While growing up, she’s said to have lived from places to places, because her dad was in the Air Force. She’s the youngest of four siblings. Suzanne talks about having lots of friends who were boys, and she used to do gymnastics when she was eleven. She also liked reading and “running around the woods with my friends.” She earned her M.F.A. from New York University in Dramatic Writing. She moved to NYC in 1987, and stayed there till 2003. Her career began in 1991 as the screenwriter for children’s shows, primarily for Nickelodeon. Her works include the very famous cartoon, Oswald. Many of her shows are Emmy-nominated. Children’s author James Proimos, whom she met while working on a Kids WB Show Generation O!, inspired her to write for children. She cites Alice In Wonderland as the inspiration behind the first book of The Underland Chronicles, Gregor the Overlander. Suzanne is currently working on the third book of The Hunger Games, titled Mockingjay.
